                  <span style="font-size: 20px; color: rgb(100, 100, 100);">目犍连出家前，他跟舍利弗是同学，那时候佛法还没到人间，他们同学婆罗门教——印度的一个古老的宗教。当年佛陀还没到人间来弘扬佛法的时候，哪有佛教？它是应时而生的。目犍连与舍利弗两个人都学婆罗门教，两个人非常要好，后来遇到马胜比丘，一同皈依佛陀。</span>

                  <span style="font-size: 20px; color: rgb(100, 100, 100);">目犍连出家之后，刻苦修行，修得非凡的神通本领。他曾以神通的力量识破了莲花色女的诱惑。目犍连的功能得到了佛陀的允许，在佛陀的十大弟子中，他称为“神通第一”。</span>

                  <span style="font-size: 20px; color: rgb(100, 100, 100);">目犍连一生辅助佛陀弘法度生，是佛陀一生当中弘法的重要助手，与舍利弗，是佛陀弟子中的“双贤”。佛陀曾经说过：“此二人当于我弟子中最为上首，智慧无量，神足第一。”</span>

                  <span style="font-size: 20px; color: rgb(100, 100, 100);">当年，目犍连与舍利弗一起到伽耶山，使五百徒众复归于佛。</span>

                  <span style="font-size: 20px; color: rgb(100, 100, 100);">目犍连还是佛教里重孝道的典范。</span>

                  <span style="font-size: 20px; color: rgb(100, 100, 100);">佛经上讲“目连救母”，就是目犍连曾经以神通的力量，得知他的生母因生前造大恶业堕入了地狱，受很大的苦难，他就求助佛陀，佛陀告诉他，在农历七月十五日这天，以百味饮食置盂兰盆中，供养出家僧众。目犍连就依此而作，终于使其母得救。后来庙里就依此方法为亡灵超度，就是“盂兰盆会”。这个节日盛行不衰，目犍连也因此驰名古今。当时，凡是说盂兰盆会，就是在赞扬目犍连尊者。</span>
